Anubis
Anubis is a work based on Egyptian mythology that explores human evil.
The piece features dance, circus, and parkour in a collection that relies on narrative fragments, with live bass music creating the soundscape.
The performers of the piece are professionals in parkour and circus arts. In Egyptian mythology, Anubis is the god of the underworld who weighs a human heart against a white feather. If the heart is heavier than the feather, the person is deemed evil and faces punishment.
The work examines how and by what measures human evil can be defined. It is based on Immanuel Kant’s concept of radical evil and Hannah Arendt’s concept of the banality of evil, depicting a world where humans struggle against evil.
